Sparta Middle School Food Service

Breakfast is FREE and offered in ALL BUILDINGS and includes a main entrée, juice/fruit, and white milk (fat free or 1%).

  • Elementary students are provided FREE breakfast in the classroom with hot breakfast provided once per week. (PLEASE CONFIRMS AS SITE CURRENTLY SAYS HOT BREAKFAST IS OFFERED DAILY AND ONCE PER WEEK). Yogurt and a variety of cold cereals are also offered daily. 
  • Secondary Breakfast will be FREE to all students this year, available daily in the café.  Secondary students are offered a variety of hot main entrees along with juice, milk (fat free or 1% white and fat free chocolate), and a la carte items.

**Lunch is FREE and offered to all Pre-K-12 Grade Students for the 2024-2025 school year.  

  • Ridgeview Elementary offers: Three entrée choices with a hot vegetable 
  • Appleview Elementary offers: Three entrée choices with a hot vegetable

Additionally, all elementary schools have a fruit and vegetable bar for the students  to enjoy daily.

  • Middle School and High School students can choose from a wide range of entrees each day including: 
    • Create: Come try some of our hearty homemade comfort meals 
    • Sono: High School and Middle School will now offer a new and improved Mexican Line. Available daily on this line made to order;  beef, bean, or chicken tacos, taco salads, nachos, burritos, and enchiladas
    • Grilled: Fast-casual station to grab your favorite grilled sandwich and finger food
    • 2 Mato: Come try some of our amazing pasta's and pizza's (Classic cheese pizza made with reduced fat cheese on a fresh baked whole grain crust and specialty pizzas which are fresh baked daily)
    • So Deli: Sandwiches and Salads Made to order with freshly baked breads and sliced meat choices with all your favorite toppings
    • Grab and Go: Fast and fresh food options
    • Extra Extra: No one leaves our café hungry with our fresh fruit and vegetable bar (cold fruit and vegetable bar offered daily - featuring fresh seasonal produce including local items)

Sparta Area Schools is participating in the Michigan School Meals, National School Lunch Program (NSLP), and the School Breakfast Program (SBP) for the 2024-25 school year. Combining these programs allows us to provide ALL STUDENTS WITH FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH FOR THE  2024-25 SCHOOL YEAR.

For your convenience, we accept payments online with check, debit, or credit card. To do so you must visit our family portal at https://sparta.familyportal.cloud/. In order to set your child/children up with an account you will need their student ID number. If your child does not know their ID number, please contact the Food Service Director. Once basic student information is entered, you may make a deposit for your student’s food service account through a secure internet connection. If you choose to apply money online there will be convenience fees. There is a $1.50 flat fee when using a checking account for payment and $2.85 for every $100.00 increment in a transaction when using a credit/debit card. Remember you can make one family deposit as well. You do not need to do each child separately. You may also send cash or checks with your child to school. Please make sure the payment is identified for food service and child/children’s names are on the payment. Any questions about food service payments should be directed to Melissa Alley 616-887-1744.

All Sparta Area Schools students must complete the  Education Benefit Form for the 2024-25 School Year.




The Meal Magic Family Portal allows you to fill out The Education Benefit Forms on-line.  Click THIS LINK and then select "Apply For Benefits" to complete the form on-line. We only need one Education Benefit form per household. If you prefer to use this site, you will no longer need to send in the paper Education Benefit Form and, in most cases, your application will be reviewed and a determination made within one business day.

Please remember that an Education Benefit Form needs to be filled out every new school year between July 1st and October 2nd.  If you prefer the paper copy application, they will be available at all open houses, building main offices, building kitchens or you can print one HERE.

The way you access menus is changing, and we are sure you will love it! Sparta Area Schools in partnership with Chartwells K12, is now using Nutrislice to publish the school menus to a new interactive website and a free smartphone app! Now you can access your menus anywhere, anytime! Nutrislice gives students and parents the opportunity to see more information about menu items including photos and descriptions. The capability to filter common food allergens, translate menus into different languages, access nutrition information such as carb counts and calories is just a few clicks away! The Sparta Area School District participates in the National School Lunch/School Breakfast Program. Nutritious meals are served every school day. All meals served must meet patterns established by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture.
